What is SLES?

The transition from school to work can be a challenging and anxious time for young people. The uncertainty of finding employment and the pressure to succeed can lead to anxiety and stress. This is where the NDIS School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) Program plays a crucial role.

The Smiley's SLES Program provides tailored support and guidance to help young people living with disabilities better transition into the workforce.

Through skills development, job training, placement opportunities and personalised support, the SLES program aims to empower and equip young adult participants with the necessary tools and resources, ultimately fostering independence and confidence.

However, it's important to note that SLES is only accessible under an NDIS plan, so participants need to ensure that they have the necessary support in place to take advantage of this valuable resource. With the help of SLES, young adults can feel more confident and prepared as they take their first steps into the working world.

Why are we different?

Smiley's have identified that there is a significant gap in the delivery of SLES programs to support, achieve and meet the individuals NDIS Goals.

We understand that one size does NOT fit all, and therefore one program will NOT suit all.

Smiley's know that each person has their own unique set of skills and abilities that make them different from others. It is important we recognise and appreciate the diverse talents and capabilities that each individual brings to the table.

By understanding that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, Smiley's focuses on developing these strengths and continually improving skillset, direction and confidence. Embracing the differences in skill levels and capabilities and range of talents among people can lead to a more inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute in their own way.

Instead of expecting everyone to be at the same level, we should be meeting this diversity of skills and talents that make each person valuable in their own right at the individual level. Smiley's meet Participants at their level, building solid foundations to best set the individual up for success.
