What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?
A good psychosocial recovery coach possesses a range of qualities and skills that enable them to effectively support individuals with psychosocial diagnosis and disabilities.
A recovery coach is an NDIS funded worker that has mental health knowledge.
A recovery coach will: spend time with you, and people important to you, to get to know you and understand your needs
Help you to find out about different services and supports, and how these can help you
Help you get support from mental health services
Help you better understand the NDIS and support you with the NDIS
Goal Setting: Assisting the individual to set and achieve personal goals.
Establishing Routines: Helping to establish routines in daily living to build structure.
Building Confidence and Determination: Encouraging the individual to live a meaningful life and develop confidence in themselves.
Developing Relationships: Aiding in the development of significant relationships that will assist in recovery.
Growing Motivation and Resilience: Supporting the individual to grow their motivation, strengths, and resilience.
Decision-Making Skills: Developing or improving the individual’s decision-making skills.
Facilitating Independence: Collaborating with other mental health providers for a therapeutic regimen and facilitating independence in daily personal tasks.
